eBay/Skype Deal Shows Future of E-Commerce

eBay's plans to acquire Internet telephony company Skype Technologies points to a future where voice communications are integrated into e-commerce transactions.

EBay announced it would acquire Skype for $2.6 billion. EBay hopes to incorporate Skype’s technology into its online auction Web site to allow buyers and sellers to speak with each other instead of communicating via e-mail.
