Symantec to acquire anti-phishing software maker
By Cara Garretson, NetworkWorld.com, 09/26/05
The security giant announced last week plans to acquire WholeSecurity, maker of behavior-based software designed to protect against phishing scams, worms, Trojans, and spyware.
Symantec will continue to sell WholeSecurity products as is, but will also integrate them with offerings from policy-enforcement and desktop firewall company Sygate, which Symantec is in the process of acquiring. WholeSecurity’s customers include e-Bay, Visa, and Deutsche Bank.
