askSam version 6 released
By Gearhead, NetworkWorld.com, 04/14/05
The free form personal database called askSam from askSam Systems has been around for 20 years this month and today the latest version, askSam 6, was released.
We are just about to check out the new version but until we have some comments here's what's new in this release:
- Dynamically generated folder views:
- Organize documents into folders and sub-folders.
- Browse and navigate through your documents.
- View your information from different perspectives.
- On the fly - switch the way folders are displayed.
- Customize how the Folder View is displayed and sorted.
- Completely new interface to navigate your askSam files.
- The ability to save web pages directly into askSam:
- Seamlessly integrates with Internet Explorer.
- Save entire Web page including graphics, frames, and formats.
- Permanent, searchable archive of stored Web pages.
- Add notes, comments, and keywords to the pages you save.
- Save a single page, an entire Web site, or selected portions of a page.
We've always been intrigued by askSam as it provides a very different model for data storage and access than other products. It is one of those tools that if you work the way it works, you soon can't live without it.
