Gearhead Links: "Syncing with FolderShare"
By Gearhead, NetworkWorld.com, 07/25/05
The following items were referred to in the Gearhead column titled "Syncing with FolderShare" published on 7/25/05.
Additional Notes:
ByteTaxi made some interesting decisions to ensure that synchronization problems are effectively resolved. For example, if both ends of a synchronization library are off line and both make changes to the same file then upon reconnection the version of the file held by the first end to connect retains the original name while the version held by the other end becomes a new file with the same extension but with the machine's name appended to the file name.
Another well designed feature is that when a file that originated on machine A is deleted the copy on machine B is moved to a "deleted" subdirectory. This ensures that the accidental deletion and possible purging of the file on machine A isn't a problem.
