Google goes to the moon
By Gearhead, NetworkWorld.com, 07/20/05
Never geeks to rest on their laurels, Google has followed their much-praised Google Maps and Google Earth services with Google Moon.
According to Google, Google Moon's rasion d'etre is:
In honor of the first manned Moon landing, which took place on July 20, 1969, we’ve added some NASA imagery to the Google Maps interface to help you pay your own visit to our celestial neighbor.
By default the landing sites of Apollos 11 through 17 (missing 13 obviously) are flagged and you can zoom in ... at least, up to a point; on the highest magnification imagery is apparently not available so Google shows you the obvious default ... Swiss cheese.
