A cure for those all-night coding sessions ... if you're a monkey
By Gearhead, NetworkWorld.com, 08/23/05
According to a Reuters article: "A drug dubbed CX717, made by Cortex Pharmaceuticals, Irvine, California, reverses the biological and behavioral effects of sleep deprivation" ... except that so far it has only been tested on monkeys. The article went on "When the monkeys were subjected 30-36 hours of sleep deprivation, average performance accuracy dropped to 63 percent, which was restored to 84 percent after CX717 treatment." We can only hope that this stuff works on programmers so we can aim for a standard 100-hour coding week.
Even more important is that CX717 may be effective in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease according to an article on SeniorJournal.com.
