KDE for OS X
By Gearhead, NetworkWorld.com, 09/22/05
Shashdot just pointed to an article on Appletalk, an Australian Macintosh site, that explains how to get the K Desktop Environment (KDE) running under Mac OS X.
The process involves installing and running Fink (similar to Debian's Jigsaw Download utility also known as Jigdo), then removing Apple's X11 client and replacing it with XFree86. Fink is used to download and compile XFree86, a process that is reputed to take around eight hours even with a serious twin processor Mac G4.
At the end of the exercise you can switch between KDE and OS X using XDarwin. Very cool.
