Hyperic, a start-up with an affiliation toward open source, today released the source code for Hyperic HQ, a management software platform the company says can manage all commercial and open source IT assets.
Hyperic had last month moved its commercial software offering over to an open source license, and starting today the Hyperic HQ source code can be downloaded at no charge at both the Hyperic and SourceForge Web sites under Version 2 of the GNU General Public License (GPL V2).
Open source network management applications are flourishing as companies such as Hyperic as well as those that recently formed the Open Management Consortium (OMC) start to make their software available under open source licenses.
