Video subscription pie to get bigger

Analysts at In-Stat/MDR are forecasting big time growth in online video streaming services with the market growing from $991 million this year to $4.5 billion in 2007. What will drive the growth? For one, the number of home connected to the 'Net via a high speed line will jump from 30 million to 130 million over the same period. And as more people get broadband, they'll want offerings that take advantage of the speed, namely video and conferencing. In-Stat also points to the fact that people are now beginning to pay for premium content, as witnessed by the success of RealNetworks' RealOne SuperPass service.
