Competition in the courtroom
By Jason Meserve, NetworkWorld.com, 09/30/03
What usually happens when two companies sell similar products? One sues the other for patent infringement. Such is the case with Qarbon and eHelp. Both companies make software (Qarbon's Viewlet Builder and eHelp's RoboDemo) for capturing on-screen activity and creating an animated Flash version of it. Both seem pretty easy to use and are great for creating online tutorials of how to use an application. Now Qarbon has filed a patent infringement suit against eHelp hoping to collect damages or prevent the company from selling its RoboDemo product. Qarbon claims eHelp violated this patent.
