Real to launch pay-per-download service

Published reports say RealNetworks will announce this week at CES that it is joining the music download fray with its own service that competes with iTunes, MusicMatch and others. What's surprising is Real will use the AAC format used by Apple's iTunes service. But don't get excited about downloading from Real to your iPod - Real's Helix DRM technology will be used to protect the content, which isn't supported by iPod at the moment. And if you've got an MP3 player, you're out of luck completely.
