IVT, Akamai partner
By Jason Meserve, NetworkWorld.com, 04/06/04
Interactive Video Technologies (IVT) today launched a new component to its MediaPlatform 3.0 that allows for presenters to use the phone to record audio to play along with a presentation. Called MediaPlatform TeleCaster, the technology uses Akamai's dial-in encoding services to capture audio via a regular phone call. Audio is then synchronized with a slide presentation and other media inside MediaPlatform. IVT is trying to make it cheaper and easier for customers to create content from remote sites, where they may not have sufficient bandwidth to push audio on to the network. Viewers just tune in from the desk without having to dial into a bridge. TeleCaster is including in the MediaPlatform base price ($99,900 for five user accounts and the hosted service costs about $90,000 a year for five user accounts).
