V-Span offers managed service
By Jason Meserve, NetworkWorld.com, 07/21/04
Wrote the story on Monday, but just haven't had time to blog here since I've been covering Layer 8 this week. Anyhow, V-Span this week announced its new Video Network Management Service (VNMS) designed to give customers that host their own videoconferencing equipment (endpoints, MCUs, gateways, etc.) the same level of service they would using a strict ASP model. (It also helps V-Span insulate its business as customers continue the shift from ISDN to IP.) For $75 per device per month, V-Span will remotely monitor your equipment and ensure it's ready when someone needs to make a video call. There's also help desk services available for a per-hour charge (discounts for those that buy in bulk.)
