Glowpoint to rollout Web conferencing services

Glowpoint, best known for its dedicated IP videoconferencing network and services, is adding Web conferencing features to its portfolio through partnerships with Pixion and Vemics. The goal is to allow the traditional Glowpoint video users to be able to use Web conferencing features like application and data sharing without having to go to a third-party provider or have to pay per-minute rates.
The offering, due out in January 2005 (not that far away!), is dubbed "All you can share" since users will pay a flat monthly rate for the service, much like current Glowpoint customers do for the majority of their video services. With the Pixion integration, Glowpoint will host a Pixion server (probably multiple servers) in its data center and customers will connect from a standard PC with Web browser. The PC can be a separate unit or the PC used in a videoconferencing unit (i.e. the Polycom iPower series). This is basically how the do-it-yourself types are using Glowpoint and the Web conferencing technology at the same time. In this case they get one bill (and Glowpoint gets all the revenue.)
With Vemics, users get a desktop system that combines audio, data and video. Sound familiar? It is. Vemics is built on FVC's Click to Meet product. And it already runs across Glowpoint. The video is not the best, but because Glowpoint offers dedicated pipes for conferencing, the experience should be better than if it was used over the public Internet.
Pricing for both the Vemics and Pixion offerings will be on a per seat, per month basis, though no ballpark figures have been released yet.
