Convoq ASAP Pro 2.0 available

By Jason Meserve, NetworkWorld.com, 12/07/04

Convoq yesterday launched version 2.0 of its ASAP Pro Web conferencing service with a new feature that allows "presence-enabled" links to be embedded in HTML e-mail messages and Web pages. Convoq uses both instant messaging integration and standard scheduling tools for creating and launching meetings. The new ASAP Links let you put a link in your e-mail signature that when clicked, connects any user with your if you're available for a meeting. The link is basically an image served dynamically via Convoq that shows if one is available or not for a meeting. Users who click the link are taken to an intermediary page to fill in some basic contact information that is used to identify the person to the Convoq user. The user in turn can reject or accept the meeting.

In addition to the Links, Convoq made improvements to its scheduling feature and added the ability to upload multiple presentations to the server for viewing in a meeting with the ability to flip between presentations on the fly.

Convoq uses a flat-fee pricing model of $250 per user per year with the ability to host an unlimited number of meetings of up to 15 people (more people can be added for addition per minute pricing). For larger meetings, Convoq offers ASAP Conference Room, a floating license priced at $2,495 per year for unlimited meetings of up to 50 people and $4,995 per year for unlimited meetings of up to 100 people. Meetings can have voice, video and data. Convoq uses Flash for its interface, so there's no special client to download for non-Convoq subscribers.
