Watching online
By Jason Meserve, NetworkWorld.com, 01/20/05
I am in the office today and while there's a TV in my cube, it doesn't have a cable connection and it only gets a Spanish-language channel that comes in fuzzy. What's the big deal? I wanted to see the Presidential Inauguration. Thankfully, MSNBC streamed the event free (unlike CNN). I originally tried the Fox News Site, but the video was in a perpetual buffer and when I tried to close the browser window my entire machine abruptly shutdown and restarted. MSNBC streamed in Windows Media format (naturally) and the quality was excellent. During the half-hour that I watched, there wasn't single instance of rebuffering. The only oddity was an ad for the EPT pregnancy test that was placed next to video in the HTML frame. Nice work by the MSNBC folks.
