Polycom's new entry-level endpoint, SIP conference phone
By Jason Meserve, NetworkWorld.com, 01/24/05
Polycom today released a new entry-level videoconferencing endpoint and a SIP-based conference phone. The $4,999 VSX 6000 (view image) is an IP-only video endpoint that supports H.264 (better video, less bandwidth), has built-in AES encryption, 14Khz Siren14 audio and contains audio/video error concealment technology found in Polycom's higher-end products. The new SoundStation IP 4000 (view image) looks like Polycom's traditional triangle-shaped conference phone but runs over a single cord combining power and network connectivity, supports DHCP and has a built-in address book. It is priced at $1,099.
