WebEx updates service

WebEx is the leader in the Webconferencing services space and takes the slings and arrows in stride. Last week, the company made an update to its MediaTone Network (basically, the underlying system to everything they offer) that has a number of interesting features and new customer premise angle.
On the user interface side, there's a new thing called PowerPanels - floating windows with various tools and in-conference management options for the moderator that are not visible to the participants, even in full screen share mode. Participants can use the panels to show a video window, application sharing and text chat on the screen simultaneously.
For those concerned about security of the content, WebEx has added the Extended MediaTone eXchange (EMX) option. It's basically a smaller version of the servers found in the WebEx datacenters that a customer can put in their own enterprise. With this method, for meetings that involve all internal employees the content will not leave the network perimeter; it will all go through the EMX.
All of the new features are now available.
