Sonic Foundry launches LX Rich Media Server

Sonic Foundry has launched a new centralized server for managing and distributing content, both live and on-demand, captured with its various recorder offerings. The new Mediasite LX Rich Media Server is based on the .NET platform and comes with an embedded MySQL database. Administrators can carve out how people access content, both for creators and viewers. For presenters, the system is designed to be self-service. "We want it to be as easy as walking up to photocopy machine and hitting copy," says James Dias, vice president of marketing and sales at Sonic Foundry. The Mediasite LX Rich Media Server works with the company's existing Mediasite RL400 Rich Media Recorder, a room-based rack-mounted system, and Mediasite ML Rich Media Recorder, a portable unit. Sonic Foundry will release a recorder specifically for videoconferencing later this year. Mediasite LX Rich Media Server is priced at $7,950 (bring your own server.)
