Yahoo adds Webcam support to Messenger

Yahoo is capitalizing on the growing broadband market and cheap Webcam hardware with the release of Yahoo Messenger 5.5. The new version supports realtime video communications at up to 20 frames per second in two window sizes, 160x120 and 320x240 pixels.

Yahoo hopes the new Webcam support can help it catch up to AOL and Microsoft in the instant messaging arms race. The new client, which also goes by the name Yahoo Messenger Super Webcam, can be download for free from Yahoo.

I haven't given it a try yet, but if you have drop me a line and let me know what you think of the video capabilities.
