Video surveillance on your Pocket PC

Axis Communications is making science fiction a reality with its new Axis Camera Explorer (ACE) for Pocket PC 2002. The software can be used to remotely access an Axis network video camera while on the go. Security personnel are the main customer for the project, with Axis envisioning mall security types monitoring rowdy teens in the food court while policing the arcade.

Of course, a wireless access point is needed to make the software useful. A handy feature in ACE is its ability to warn the user when it is out of range and automatically reconnecting when back in range. Axis camera customers can download ACE for free. It will be available by the end of September.
