Network World Fusion 09/25/02

Kasenna announced (warning: press release) today a new video-on-demand server targeted at the entry-level market. The OmniBase server supports MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 formats and runs on Linux, IRIX and Solaris. Priced at $1,500, it could be a good option for those just getting into video-on-demand applications but don't want to have to dive in head first. OmniBase can be used in the classroom setting, as well as in point of sale terminals and other kiosk-type settings. A development environment is included with the product for integrating it with existing applications and backend tracking features.
