Inappropriate use of the Internet at work?!?

Network World Fusion 10/08/02

Can you believe employees take advantage of their high-speed Internet connections at work to sometimes download illegal copies of videos and music? I am shocked and chagrined. A joint press release from Websense and Macrovision, the company that makes VHS tapes and DVDs tougher to copy, says, "A high percentage of unauthorized content is downloaded at work due to the broad availability of bandwidth and the ability to execute otherwise time-consuming downloads."

To fix this plague on corporate America, the companies next year will release software designed to scan a customer's LAN for unauthorized content and zap it. The idea is to protect companies from potential copyright and other legal liabilities associated with illegal downloads. Now if only there were a way of protecting computer users from doing stupid things with e-mail.
