In charge of pulling together the holiday video this year, but don't have the time to string hundreds of clips together and set the thing to music?

Muvee Technologies autoProducer may just save you the time and effort while still creating an MTV-like music video. I saw a demo of this $50 application today here at Comdex and was nearly blown away.

The program uses an automatic editing technique to synch your video clips to music depending on the pre-set style of editing you choose and the pace of your music selection. The folks at Muvee have spent two years researching and developing the autoProducer technology. They interviewed music video producers to get a feel for what the thought process is when creating such a video.

The end result is a series of algorithms for determining a clip's content (a face, a person or object moving, etc.) as well as the beat of a music clip and then synchronizing the two in to an entertaining video compilation. The end product can be streamed, e-mailed or even burned to a DVD. (The DVD edition is $69.)

Muvee is not targeting the advanced video user that knows every shortcut in Premiere, but it could be a fun product to have to make the a quick feel good movie to boost company morale.
