Adobe is targeting the professional video editor with its new $549 Encore DVD package used to author and burn DVDs. The package integrates with Adobe's existing creativity apps Premiere, After Effects and PhotoShop. Users will need a DVD burner to create the physical media. Premiere will still come with the third-party Sonic MyDVD program for beginners with simpler DVD authoring needs.

Do you know if Adobe Encore will support 16:9 format?

Posted by: Dennis Rose on April 15, 2003 10:53 AM

Is there any place to get a Beta version to see what to expect this Summer? I have been impressed by Mac's DVD Studio Pro and would like to see what the PC answer to that program will be like.
Thanks.

I want to get Adobe Encore DVD

Posted by: Ltxing on October 11, 2003 11:07 PM

Hi,
I have a problem with adobe encore dvd:
If I put a DVD in a DVD Player and press "Stop" "Stop", and than "Play" again, the player starts a film that is not set as first play. I think it has somethink to do with the numbers of the Titles, but I donīt know how to set a title number to a timeline.

I hope, somebody can help me soon.
Sorry for my bad english.

Greetings from Germany

I am new to Adobe Encore and have read the literature which advises that Encore will accept various file forms (I use computer animated graphics at 640 X 480 30 fps AVI format)as assets and automaticaly transcode them into NTSC MPEG-2 per the production of a DVD. When I try to import such files, however, a warning window pops up with the statement--"Could not import file. Video files for this project must have a resolution of 720 X 480, 720 X 486, 704 X 480"-HELP! ANYONE? Thanks in advance Hal.

Hal,

I use TMPGEnc to convert from AVI to MPEG-2 first, but the aspect ratios are always the same or similar (384x288 to 720x576 PAL) so the picture doesn't get distorted.

You don't want to distort the aspect ratio at all if you can help it, and there are tools in TMPGEnc that let you centre and move the picture around the screen etc. I would assume the best you can do is to centre your 640 width video and have 40 black pixels each side (720 minus 640 = 80, 80 divided by 2) and blow it up so the 480 vertical resolution is optimised to the top and bottom of screen. Therefore you would retain the original aspect ratio of your AVI.

Then import it into Encore.

Hope I'm not getting this all wrong!

Cheers

Mark

Hello, i have authored various dvd's but all were with 720x480 NTSC video.

Now i have a NTSC 704x480 video, and i heard Encore dvd supports that resolution as the 720x480 one, but when i import as asset, it tells me i have to TRANSCODE IT, and it dont give me the option to put "Don't transcode", so i wanted to know what can i do, to leave the frame size as it is (without transcoding it) and continue building my dvd.

Thanks i apreciate ur help a lot.

i'm getting this message when installing the tryout Adobe Encore 1.5:

this operating system is not supported by this installation

set up will now quit

my operating system is windows 2000 profesional

can anyone tell what am I doing wrong

Posted by: bmw528 on August 31, 2004 11:52 PM

I have recently installed Adobe Encore 1.5, but every time I add an audio clip to the timeline ... it matters not that the audio conforms to the parameters listed in the literature ... I get a message, "No audio decoder available for this stream type."

Do you have a suggestion as to how to resolve this issue? If I find a solution before I hear from you, I'll let you know. Thank you for your kind attention.
