Analysts: Videoconferencing still not mainstream

In-Stat/MDR has released a report stating that videoconferencing is still not a mainstream business technology and that it's reach is only gradually expanding. One of the main reasons given by In-Stat/MDR is there's just not enough business need for the technology and that vendors must find ways to make the technology more compelling to the average user. While the company did say that videoconferencing services would reach $5.5 billion in 2007, I found this statistic surprising:

There are fewer than 200,000 videoconferencing end points, currently, being actively used to initiate video calls. This number is minuscule when compared to the fact that mainstream technologies have numbers thousands of times larger.
