Network World Fusion 07/29/04

Kasenna this week launched a new Secure Video Delivery Network that allows content to be encrypted at the source and unencrypted at the desktop, removing the service provider from the encryption business. The idea is to help get first-run movies to on-demand viewers quicker while limiting executive fears of wide spread piracy. Kasenna gained the encryption technology in its acquisition of ViewNow. Using the SVDN, the encrypted content is only decoded at the settop box (Kasenna's) and not anywhere in between. Corporate users may benefit for those internal events they don't want spread to the competition, but need to be somewhat widely distributed.
