Error 404--Not Found

Error 404--Not Found

From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:

10.4.5 404 Not Found

The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the condition is temporary or permanent.

If the server does not wish to make this information available to the client, the status code 403 (Forbidden) can be used instead. The 410 (Gone) status code SHOULD be used if the server knows, through some internally configurable mechanism, that an old resource is permanently unavailable and has no forwarding address.

Critics have said Windows XP Service Pack 2 may be just the software to jump start Microsoft's Group Policy Object (GPO) technology. IT can use GPO to lock down desktops are ensure users don't add software or change anything. XP's firewall, which will take some configuration to prevent breakage of corporate applications, is just the type of feature that is best controlled centrally with GPO.

To further strengthen the GPO story, 10 vendors last week announced the non-profit Group Policy Task Force (GPTF), which will advocate Group Policy for Windows management. The group intends to be a hub for sharing information and to ensure interoperability between products that employ GPO. The group's founding members are Quest Software, AutoProf, FullArmor, GPOanswers.com, InstallShield, Special Operations Software, Microsoft, NetIQ, ScriptLogic Corp., and Vintela. Jeremy Moskowitz, who runs GPanswers.com, has the title of group policy evangelist.
