Arkadiy Dobkin says it's a good idea for companies that are looking at outsourcing to have a little variety. Dobkin is CEO of EPAM Systems, which has been providing offshore software engineering and development expertise for about 10 years. The company has more than 600 staff in the United States, Russia and Belarus. Last month, EPAM merged with Fathom Technology, to bring it software engineers specializing in advanced Enterprise Java Bean and .Net services. Fathom has about 160 staff in Budapest. Dobkin says the merged company, which will retain the EPAM name, will be the biggest software engineering services provider in Central and Eastern Europe. He says EPAM plans to add offices in the United States and Europe as it seeks to attract a wider client base. EPAM's customers include Microsoft, Sun, Reuters and Colgate-Palmolive. "Large corporations are starting to try to mitigate [offshoring] risks associated with going to one country," Dobkin says. "So instead of just using one or two companies from India it makes sense to use outsourcers in different geographies." Check out EPAM here.
