IBM has won a $17 million defense agency contract to provide a variety of network-oriented services.
Specifically, IBM’s Global Services group was hired by the Defense Information Systems Agency to provide instant messaging, text chat, Web conferencing, whiteboarding and application sharing. IBM will host unclassified applications for the Defense Department at a secure facility managed by ServerVault, according to IBM. The contract is for one year with two option years.
The work is a key part of DISA’s Net-Centric Enterprise Services project which promises to provide a consistent, secure collaboration service for use by all Dept. of Defense personnel.
DISA’s NCES team includes tech heavyweights Cisco, ServerVault. Science Applications International Corp., FGM, InstantTech Technologies and Polycom.
