Allied Telesyn last week launched a new lineup of power-over-Ethernet (PoE) and non-PoE switches aimed at small and mid-size companies.
The AT-80000 series of switches includes 16-, 24- and 48-port switches. PoE is available in the 24-port and 48-port devices. The boxes, designed to compete with Cisco's Express 500 switches and HP's ProCurve 2500 series, include 802.1x support for security access on Ethernet ports, VLAN capabilities. For QoS, the switches support 802.1p and Diffserv at Layer 2 and Layer 3, respectively. The AT-8000S/48 costs $1,105, and $2,000 with PoE. The AT-8000S/24 costs $715 and $1,165 with PoE. The AT-8000S/16 costs $575. All switches are available now.
