Skip the commute. Netilla Network's new Flexible Working Survey 2004 found 74% of commuters surveyed were convinced that working from home either full or part time would enhance their relationship with their partner.
One woman respondent said she was certain telework would “perk up her love life” as she’d at least have more energy to spend “quality time” with her husband.
More than 50% of respondents admitted they felt long commutes affected their relationships adversely, with one man citing his long work hours as the cause for his divorce.
80% said teleworking would make their lives less stressful.
77% of commuters surveyed would “jump at the opportunity to work from home” and 86% felt that having the choice to work either at home or in the office was the “ideal setup.”
For the study, Netilla interviewed 165 commuters at New York City’s Penn Station and London’s Liverpool Street Station about telework. Cultural differences emerged:
52% of US commuters said flexible working would enhance their “significant other relationship” compared to 81% of U.K. commuters.
87% of U.S. commuters said they would miss the office social life, compared to 80% of U.K. commuters.
67% of U.S. commuters felt telework would make their jobs less stressful, compared to 84% of U.K. commuters.
