Survey Says....
Day One of Vortex 2005 concluded with an exciting dinner conversation that revolved around a survey that tried to get at how Vorticians see the future. Here are some of the responses:
By 2015, SOA will be the dominant model of computing in the U.S.
Likely to happen: 72%
Not likely to happen: 21%
By 2015, outsourced utility computing will be the dominant model and IT departments will be dramatically downsized.
Likely to happen: 35%
Not likely: 45%
By 2015, computer, storage and network markets will be dominated by foreign manufacturers of low-cost commodity products.
Likely: 49%
Not likely: 32%
By 2010, technology providers will have developed solutions that solve our security problems.
Likely: 15%
Not likely: 72%
