Prices for Dedicated Internet Access can vary by as much as 700%, according to data from a Washington, DC, based telecom integrator.
Global Internetworking has just released its IP Access Price Index, a report that provides a survey of dedicated Internet access costs and speeds for various U.S. locations based on data generated from Global's pricing tool and
management system. The IP Access Price Index shows the spread between the lowest and highest prices for IP access requirements serving various markets based on data from different provider networks.
According to the index, DS-3 Dedicated Internet Access in Newark, NJ, can vary between $2,340 per month and $17,069, a price difference of more than 700%.
Similarly, pricing in Washington, D.C., for 45 Mbps dedicated access can
vary by up to 200%, ranging between $6,350 and $12,321. In Redmond, WA, the prices range from $5,461 to nearly three times higher at
$16,210.
The index also shows DIA pricing for DS-1 and OC-3 service. Index pricing includes IP port access and local loop costs as well as monthly recurring and one-time non recurring charges.
