Worlwide Ethernet service revenue was up 132% to $5.9B in 2005, according to Infonetics Research.
Infonetics expects service revenue to jump another 280% between 2005 and 2009 to $22.5 billion. "Mid-band" Ethernet services, which include the 1-10Mbps and >10-50Mbps ranges, hit almost $1.9 billion in 2005, and are forecast to grow to over $8 billion in 2009, or 36% of total worldwide Ethernet services revenue, according to the firm.
Revenue from retail Ethernet services -- Internet/WAN access, Ethernet private line, and transparent LAN services -- account for 75% of all Ethernet service revenue, Infonetics says. The remaining 25% are from wholesale services.
