Chicagoans can look forward to Wi-Fi everywhere
NetworkWorld.com, 06/01/06
Chicago is on a growing list of cities that are building or have plans to build extensive Wi-Fi networks.
Check out our coverage on the windy city’s announcement.
The city of Chicago issued an RFP earlier this week looking for a provider to build a network that could total over 7,000 antennas and cost upwards of $18 million.
The city wants a provider that will commit to building in Chicago’s poorest neighborhoods and provide free access to schools, libraries and low-income residents.
San Francisco, Philidelphia and over 300 municipalities across the country are also building Wi-Fi networks for their citizens.
