FCC seat filled
NetworkWorld.com, 06/05/06
Last week the FCC swore in its fifth commissioner filling a slot that has been open for about 14 months.
Robert McDowell not only fills a long-vacant spot, he becomes chairman Kevin Martin’s Republican swing vote.
President Bush nominated McDowell earlier this year and the Senate confirmed the nomination at the end of May according to this story in the Washington Post.
While it’s possible McDowell will not vote along party lines on every decision, we are talking about a politically appointed body.
McDowell most recently was senior vice president and assistant general counsel for Comptel, a lobbying group for competitive telecom service providers.
