SF police cop to helping Apple hunt for missing iPhone

Department had denied any involvement in any search for prototype

SF Weekly has details.

The details of that search remain murky, but the stench of this whole episode is getting stronger.

(Update, 9 p.m.: CNET has the Frisco police department's latest explanation. Hold your nose.)
