LibreOffice Templates and Extensions Repository Now Online

Do you need to know how much gas your scooter guzzles? Need an layout of server and network racks? Or do you just need help balancing your budget? Check the LibreOffice Template Center for these and other templates.

"I'm excited about the availability of the extensions and templates repository,” Florian Effenberger, Founding Member of The Document Foundation, tells NetworkWorld. “It is one of many improvements and milestones we achieved in the LibreOffice project, with many more to come. The new website is created, developed and supported by worldwide volunteers, and shows how strong and vital our community is."

Current extensions in the new repository include an Instant Word Count extension, which shows an window dialog that instantly counts the amount of words in your document. I haven't tested the Mail Merge DB extension yet, but I will soon. Mail merge has always been a problem area for LibreOffice.

In all, there are 38 extensions in the repository, and volunteers are encouraged to contribute more.

October has been busy for The Document Foundation. On October 20, the foundation released the board election results. Board members are: Florian Effenberger, Thorsten Behrens, Michael Meeks, Caolán McNamara, Italo Vignoli, Olivier Hallot, and Charles-H Schulz. Deputies are Bjoern Michaelsen, Andreas Mantke, and Jesús Corrius. On October 14, LibreOffice posted LibreOffice Conference announcements. The organization unveiled plans for an online protoype and a port project to Android and iOS.
