You know that counter in Times Square that tabulates the national debt every tenth-of-a-second?
Cisco has a similar tool to tabulate the Internet of Everything in real time, and it claims there are 80 "people, places, processes and things" connected to the Internet every second.
Here it is. We found it on the WebProNews.com site, which said Cisco launched the counter this week:
Cisco believes there are 10 billion "things" connected to the Internet right now, with the potential to reach 50 billion by 2020. Next year, 100 things-per-second will connect to the Internet, and by 2020 that number will reach 250 things/sec.
Cisco's forecasting methodology can be found on the Cisco site here and in a blog post here.
