More iPad 2 details emerge - tapered edges

With 2011 approaching, there are a lot of iPad 2 rumors floating around. A few days ago, it was reported that the iPad 2 will sport a smaller bezel, include wide range speakers, and come with a flattened back - much like the most recent iteration of the iPod Touch. Shortly thereafter, the following video emerged purporting to show an iPad 2 case molding which suggests that the next-gen iPad will, in fact, be a tad bit smaller, come with rounded edges, and have a flattened back.

But wait, there's a whole lot more!

9to5Mac recently got ahold of case mold drawings for iPad 2 casings which appear to show a spot for a camera on the back (which is all but a given), and interestingly enough, tapered edges.

Some new information we have discovered through these drawings is a brand new port opening on the left side of the device. We’re not sure what this opening is for but it is there on these latest iPad 2 design schematics. On the drawings there appears to be an SD card going into the port but that could just be a piece of the case mold machine. The latest rumors point to either a mini USB or a full USB port being present on the iPad 2 so it very well could be one or a combination of the three ports.

And finally, there are also rumors that Apple will release 3 iPad models in the first quarter of 2011. Apparently motivated by the success of the iPad 3G, APple will reportedly release a CDMA enabled iPad via Verizon in addition to the UMTS and Wi-Fi models already available.
