Current Job Listings

Black Duck Software announced their latest acquisition today. The big duck in the open source pond announced that they had acquired the Olliance Group, a , a privately-held independent open source business and strategy consulting firm. The Olliance Group helps everyone from Fortune 500 companies to open source start up companies develop their open source use strategies. As such they already worked closely with Black Duck using some of the Black Duck software products as part of their consulting services.

The acquisition actually closed around the end of the year, but Black Duck is just announcing the acquisition now. The Olliance Group will be run as a separate division of Black Duck. All of the key employees will be staying on with the company as well as many of the consultants who worked closely with the company.

This is the fourth acquisition for Black Duck and the 3rd in the last 3 months. Prior acquisitions included Ohloh.net, Koders and Spike Source. With the Olliance Group acquisition Black Duck is further rounding out their suite of offerings. Customers can now have a complete holistic set of services and products from Black Duck that include virtually the entire spectrum of open source needs. From help managing development of open source projects, to using open source projects, to license conformity and finding open source developers.  Black Duck is poised to be an open source powerhouse!

I had a chance to sit down with Phil Odence, my fellow Network World blogger and VP of Business Development at Black Duck to chat about the Olliance Group acquisition and what else is on the horizon for Black Duck. It is about a 15 minute conversation below:
