New Cisco Flip imminent

First major redesign of camcorder since acquisition of Pure Digital

The gadget blogosphere is all a-flutter on what's reported to be the first major redesign of the Flip camcorder since Cisco bought Pure Digital last year for $590 million. A tipster from consumer electronics retailer Best Buy let blog Engadget in on the secret.

The new Flip Slide HD will apparently feature a second screen -- an angled slide-out for viewing videos, much like a DVD player, according to blog Electronista. It will have 16GB of storage, good for about four hours of video, the blog reports.

Resolution will be 720p instead of 1080p available from some Flip rivals, Electronista reports. The blogs expect the device to be launched imminently and available immediately.
