HP shows how to run Exchange 2010 on its blade server

HP engingeers illustrate how to run Exchange 2010 on BladeSystem Matrix

HP today released templates that make it easier to run Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 on HP's virtualized platform known as the BladeSystem Matrix.

HP says its BladeSystem Matrix templates offer customers sizing and configuration guidance for running popular application servers on its blades. It now offers such guidance for Exchange 2010 running on Windows Server 2008 R2. When using a properly configured BladeSystem, HP says users can instantly allocate server, storage and networking resources, adjust to rapid changes in workloads, and monitor service levels within Microsoft environments.

For instance, the template will advise you that for an Exchange 2010 client access server will need three 4-core servers, all of them ok to be virtual, 8G of memory, 3 NICs and 1 50G LUN.

HP also offers templates for Exchange 2007 (3000- and 4000-user versions) as well as templates for SharePoint 2007 and SQL Server 2008.

In addition, HP will happily come to your house and help you upgrade, with these two new professional service offerings:

  • HP Services for Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 includes the design and implement for an upgrade to Exchange Server 2010 with an eye towards moving you to the HP model for Microsoft Unified Communications and collaboration.
  • HP Services for Windows Server 2008 R2 is geared to help you deploy virtualization -- sometimes referred to as the "private cloud."
