Cisco today announced a media sharing/editing platform. The Cisco Media Processing (CMP) platform formats video and rich media so that it can be viewed on a variety of devices including PCs, mobile devices and other "digital screens." It also supports real-time post production editing, formatting, and network distribution capabilities, Cisco says.

CMP will eventually be an entire product family. The first product launched today is the Cisco Media Experience Engine (MXE) 3000. It can format a single media source so that it is playable on many devices. It also supports real-time post production features such as watermarking, voice and video editing, text and image overlays and noise reduction.
