Cisco to offer smartphone of its own, slated for mid 2010?

In his research note to yours truly today, RBC Capital Markets Managing Director - Mark Sue surprisingly states: "Considering its big push into the consumer market, we believe Cisco may be developing a smartphone of its own, slated for mid 2010." That's quite remarkable news given Cisco CTO Padmasree Warrior's infamous "morning after blog" denigrating the announcement of the Apple iPhone. Nonetheless, Cisco has been very successful in Hollywood reaching consumers with its IP Phone product placement initiatives, most recently in the new hit movie executive produced by Drew Barrymore: He's Just Not That Into You Furthermore, Cisco appears to be achieving new consumer visibility and awareness with its exciting Valentine's Day gift promotion.
