Camcorder coming from Cisco?

The hot rumor in the past few days has Cisco acquiring the maker of the Flip camcorder for $500 million.

TechCrunch reported last Friday that Cisco is looking to acquire Pure Digital Technologies, maker of the Flip Video line of video cameras. Several blogs and other online journals picked up on the story, giving it many more legs.

The deal makes sense: Cisco's really pushing this notion of personalized Visual Networking; you don't get much more personal than a pocket sized video camera.

And the company earlier this year came right out and said much of its M&A activity this year and next would be to fortify its consumer networking thrust.
