Cisco blade server coming Monday?

Cisco is sending out invites to the media this week for a TelePresence event Monday at its NYC offices. The theme: "Unified Computing."

Speculation is rampant that Cisco will use the event to unveil its much-anticipated data center blade servers, which sources say combine server, switching and virtualization in one integrated system. Indeed, whenever we asked Cisco about its blade server intentions at last year's C-Scape conference, the discussion always branched off into its "Unified Computing" strategy.

The invite says:

There's been a lot of speculation on Cisco's entry into new markets with technology that delivers on an architectural approach we call "Unified Computing".  You are invited to to join John Chambers, CEO of Cisco and senior executives from several industry leading partners to hear more about the evolution of the data center and "Unified Computing".  This roundtable event will be conducted via Cisco TelePresence and there is limited seating

Date:                Monday, March 16, 2009

Time:                Registration at 10:30 a.m. PT; Event begins promptly at 11:00 a.m. Expected to end at 12:30 a.m. ET.

Location:          Cisco Office in New York City
