Star Trek parodies, PG-rated and otherwise

The Star Trek:The Next Generation cast came together for a Galaxy Quest-like episode of Family Guy this week.  The promo video gives a flavor.  It's obvious from this article and Twitter alike that most or all concerned were great sports.

A very different kind of Star Trek parody is also in the works, Hustler Video's This Ain't Star Trek XXX. (Emphasis mine.)

"Hustler Video has spared no expense on this production," the company announced today in a press release. "LFP Studios is buzzing with construction of the lavish sets, which include a bridge complete with Captain's chair and the ship's intricate transporter room that reflect the spirit of 'Star Trek'. Every effort has been made to make sure that all costumes, props and makeup design parody the classic television show."

Hustler is now finalizing the cast, promising to showcase "some of the biggest names in the biz." Shooting is scheduled to begin March 31. "Growing up as a kid in the '60s, I never dreamed I'd have the opportunity to see my favorite TV show convincingly re-created and taken to the next level," said Jeff Thill, director of video operationsfor LFP Video Group. "We all suspected what Captain Kirk was secretly up to—now we know."

This Ain't Star Trek XXX is slated for release May 12.

I was tipped off to this news by somebody who is trying to get the role of Uhura, more evidence that the video is based on The Original Show.

Edit:  Pictures are now available.
