Cisco-backed virtualization start-up launches product

A virtualization start-up backed by Cisco and VMware launched its product this week. HyTrust developed an appliance that provides "a single point of control and oversight" for virtual data centers, according to VentureBeat.

Other "launch partners" include Symantec and Citrix, according to VentureBeat. HyTrust has $5 million in financial backing from Trident Capital and Epic Ventures.

Management of virtual data centers was a big emphasis of Cisco's recent Unified Computing System launch. BMC Software was such an integral component of the management angle of the UCS launch that many believe Cisco may end up acquiring the company.
